‘The Circus Holiday Club is held at Berkhampstead School, which is located on the corner of Pittville Circus Road/Hewlett Road’

Holiday club runs for:2 week at easter and 6 weeks during the summer.

The Main hall with stage:

This room has been spit into two parts. On the stage we provide an opportunity for the children to practice their gross mothers skills with fun games such as twister. We also use it for singing and acting out stories like Cinderella, there little Pigs and many more story lines. We use the floor space for smaller games, such as Jenga and car games. We also play party games, musical instruments and do face painting here.

The Smaller Hall:

In this room we have our snacks at 9:30 when all the children have arrived, and then at 2:00 for the all day/afternoon on the weather, we have our food in the shade of a tree outside on the blanked, in the school garden. If the weather is not too good we have our packed food in the dining hall where there is a large table and benches provided. We provide water and squash for snake and meals. On the large tables we have creative activities going on. These range from free drawing, badge making, card making and junk modeling, play dough and gloop!

The Library/Quiet Room:

In this room we have full access to the wide variety of books as well as full use of the television and video player. The children can rest whilst choosing a story to read alone, with other children or with a carer in one part of this large room. In the other half on the room, they can choose to watch the occasional feature length child film such as, ‘Stuart Little’ or Hercules.’ And more educational video like, Cbeebies or fun programs like the Tweenies’. The children have the option of sitting on the carpeted floor, on soft cushions or on appropriate sized chairs. We feel that is very important for the children to have a room where they can relax and take time out in their day. The carers quite often will encourage the children to go into this room after lunch to recuperate ready for the afternoon session.

The playground / grass area:

We have sole and full use the large secure grass covered garden in which we play many, many games. The garden cannot be seen from the main road and does have a shaded area for those very hot, sunny days. We offer activities such football, cricked, dodge ball and play with the Frisbee. The carers set up running races and obstacle courses. Whatever the season, whether it be the six weeks summer holiday or the two week Christmas break, the cares will do their best to allow the children to have some fresh air during the day. We also have visits (With permission) to Pittvile Park, Sandford Park and the ABC Park, which are all short walks away from base! We also visit the local children’s library to have story time and play games on their computer. Sheets are written up each day with information on such as which ‘grown up’ your child has been with all day, what children they have played with and what they have done! Past parents of the holiday clubs have found this invaluable.
