Circus Day Nursery and Pre school are proud and excited to be selected by Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre to be part of the BIG BRAIN Initiative.

This is an exclusive collaboration with our setting, which will involve a selection of children in attendance.  This ground-breaking opportunity follows on from a Channel 4 initiative that brought young children and elderly together, providing positive benefits to all – not despite, but thanks to their impressive age differences!

Established almost 20 years ago, our award winning Early Years setting has dedicated itself to heartfelt, pioneering activities like the Big Brain Initiative, so we are thrilled to be the only Early Years setting in Gloucestershire to be involved in this inspiring pilot project.

Starting this November, the Pre school children at the setting will enjoy visits from a professional singing coach and creative director to work with them to learn and develop their vocal skills prior to sharing an array of songs with the chosen elderly home.  The pilot study will take place over 10 weeks.

We see this as a perfect opportunity for our young children to appreciate and enjoy the older generation, whilst developing close bonds through talking, sharing experiences and connecting in a relaxed and safe environment.
Research evidence has shown the positive impact of the elderly generation receiving mail in the post, so our children will also be encouraged to write and post letters to their new friend! We love that this also gives the children a chance to express themselves in writing and develop another level of communication…

It’s a win, win!

We will keep you updated as the project unfolds.
